Description

Overview

The Applying the Quality Matters Rubric workshop, otherwise known as the “APPQMR,” is the official flagship workshop from Quality Matters. As an attendee, you will learn more about Quality Matters as a non-profit organization, as a rubric for the instructional design of blended and online courses, and as an option for self and formal review of online courses.

You will become familiar with the Quality Matters standards and apply some of them in a practice peer review of an online course. Participants in this hands-on workshop can be online/blended instructors, instructional designers, and/or faculty members that want to learn more about QM and quality online course design.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • Describe the underlying principles and foundational concepts of Quality Matters;
  • Identify critical elements of the QM quality assurance program;
  • Apply the QM Rubric, Fifth edition, to the review of an online course;
  • Explain and apply the concept of alignment, as well as foundational best practices in the instructional design of online courses;
  • Generate ideas for improvement of your own online or blended course;
  • Explore the challenges of online course design and teaching as you collaborate and network with colleagues;
  • Download and print a Certificate of Completion, and be eligible to continue QM professional development, if you so choose, to become a Certified Peer Reviewer.

Who should attend?

Online/blended instructors, DL staff, administrators of online courses/programs, and/or faculty interested in learning more about course design or online teaching.

Cost

The session is FREE. This cost of this workshop is covered for those attending from institutions within the Ohio QM Consortium. Registration is required.
